Charlotte started her career with Meikles in 2016 after completing the MLaw Exempting Degree at Northumbria University in 2015, and qualified as a Solicitor in April 2018. Charlotte is based at our Ferryhill office and deals with a wide variety of family matters. Charlotte is regularly instructed in relation to divorce and dissolutions of civil partnerships and in relation to matrimonial finances. She has experience in dealing with matrimonial breakdown from the outset when tensions are high to dealing with the divorce proceedings and helping her clients in reaching a fair agreement in relation to the financial aspects of the marriage, including the family home. Charlotte can also deal with conveyancing and Wills.
Charlotte also has particular experience in both Public and Private Children matters. Charlotte regularly attends many of the County Courts in the North East to represent parents and sometimes grandparents in care proceedings. She also regularly provides parents with advice and assistance when the Local Authority are involved with the family pre-proceedings and negotiates with the Local Authority striving for children to remain or be returned to their parents. Charlotte has established a client base at the Ferryhill office and also regularly acts for parents and grandparents in private children matters such as contact disputes, Special Guardianship applications, and dealing with where a child shall live. Charlotte prides herself on providing her clients with thorough and honest advice, and she regularly assists parties in making applications to Court and representing them in proceedings.
Charlotte is also experienced in dealing with domestic abuse cases and regularly assists and represents clients in obtaining a Non-Molestation Order to protect them from abuse. She also has experience of dealing with the flip side when parties are subject to allegations of domestic abuse.
